Credits Required for Graduation.

Graduation Requirements

  1. Junior High students (7th & 8th graders) will take an exploratory curriculum which includes English, math, science, social studies, music, art, physical education, industrial technology, family and consumer science, Spanish, careers, keyboarding and social development.

  2. High School students (9th - 12th graders) will take a more comprehensive course of study.  The courses will be more specific to help prepare for post-high school training and careers.

  3. Basic requirements should be completed as soon as possible.

  4. All of the requirements of the Melcher-Dallas Schools must be met in order to graduate.

  5. Credits and courses in high school must include the following:

Language Arts.........

 
8 Semesters:: 2 sem. from 9th Grade English10th Grade 
EnglishSpeech; Individual Reading or American Literature;
English Life Skills or Advanced Composition; Electives
Science................... 6 Semesters: Physical ScienceBiology (2 sem.); Electives (2 sem.)

  1. A candidate for graduation must successfully complete a minimum of 48 semester credits.
  2. If a student fails a required class, it should be repeated as soon as possible to maintain the proper sequence.
  3. A class may be added within the first week of each semester.  No class may be dropped without an "F" after ten class meetings.
  4. All students must be enrolled in a minimum of six academic classes and PE each semester. Seniors must be enrolled in a minimum of of five academic classes and PE each semester.
